Girls' Frocks & Dresses: Everyday vs Party
Frocks split into two jobs, and picking by the job avoids overpaying or under-dressing:
Everyday frocks
Soft cotton, easy prints, machine-washable. These take playground treatment; buy the larger size when in doubt so they last two seasons.
Party dresses
Tulle, satin and layered frocks with bows, corsages or zari — birthday and function wear. Check the lining is soft (ours are), since scratchy net linings are the main reason young girls refuse a pretty dress twice.
Denim and pinafore dresses
The in-between: dressier than cotton, sturdier than tulle — good for outings and school events.
Sizing
Frocks run sizes 16–32 (6 months to 10 years) — the size chart converts label sizes to age. For a frock worn over leggings in winter, the same size works; no need to size up.
